The Tourism Education Foundation of North Carolina (TEFNC) is a central resource for employee recruiting, training and encouragement for the hospitality industry and its employees in the counties surrounding Charlotte. Workforce development and best practices in safety will become priority as the industry tries to grapple with increased demand.

Hospitality Olympics 2022

The Hospitality Olympics is a celebratory event focused on shining a light on every role needed to successfully run a hotel. Employees compete in events such as Bed Making, Electric Cord Untangle, a Mop Race and a Taste Test in an attempt to win the coveted Golden Toilet Brush and bragging rights for the year. The overall effect is a boosted morale and a general feeling of appreciation. The 2022 Games took place at the Charlotte Convention Center on August 11.

GMID Career Day 2022

GMID Career Day is a recruiting event for high school students who are interested in entering the hospitality industry post-graduation. Attending students are juniors and seniors who may not be considering a secondary education and want to find a fulfilling career that allows for upward mobility. The 2022 Career Day hosted 410 students, 15 employers, 3 universities/colleges with hospitality programs and countless success stories.
